C'est la mort
It an ordinary day. I woke up to a bleak sky, but that in itself did not mean anything to me, until i picked up my copy of today on my way out of the condo. The headlines read, "The day after the Earth shook". The death toll all over Asia is 27,000 and rising. All this just because there was no developed warning system. Due to the popularity of Asia as a tourist destination, countries all over the world, from US to Finland have experienced the loss of at least one citizen. I mourn for the people who have lost love ones. I am relieved for those who survived with intact families and all. Chills run freely down my spine as i am bombarded by news of loss, grief and footages of devastation. Mostly 3rd world countries have been struck - India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia. There was no warning system in place simply because there were no history of Tsunamis in the Indian Ocean. I want to help, I want to do my part. I feel i am so lucky, i am so close to disaster yet in the safest place possible.
When will the human race learn that Arrogance will lead to disasters. The Earthquake in Kobe, in Taiwan, Typhoons in never before heard places, multiple ones coming one after another. Mother Nature in all its glory have taught us many lessons, but somehow, we fail to learn from her previous warnings.
Suddenly, the bleak sky serves as a symbol of a sad day for the human race.

Let it Snow
I spent Christmas Eve Morning browsing in Mango and at my Aunt's Office following that. I spent the large part of the afternoon, lazing gloriously around the house, not wanting to do anything. Have you ever had that kind of feeling? Where you put in so much energy before an important event to find that when you reach that day, you dont want to do anything anymore, except laze.
I guess i was also lazing because i knew i'd be out late. We went to Ben's house for dinner and proceded shortly to newsroom bar with some of his friends, danced a little. It was very nice this time, dancing in Ben, mainly because i guess we were really enjoying it(at least i was, i hope ben was). We were laughing the whole time. It was rather okay, music was mainly pop, but not as bad as devils. Stayed a while, then went back to his house for their tradition of exchanging gifts at 12 MN. I felt a bit awkward ( i kinda felt like i was intruding on something special), watching this huge happy family exchange gifts. Everyone got everyone else something. I got something too, from Ben's sisters. I was touched actually, when ben told me they'd get me something. Then we went out again, after a little while to Jalan Kayu for prata. Okay, now i kinda think the one is school tastes nicer. I must be nuts.
I had a wonderful Christmas this year.

Ladies At WAR
Whew, went to CHIONG Mango Sale today (Jealous ling?? Muahahah!! Tell me if you want anything, i'll figure a way out to get it over to you). Total War Zone, it was as if All the Fashionistas were out in full force on a battlefield today. I picked the isetan scotts 2nd lvl one. Good thing i didnt choose the 2 story one, i passed by on my way home and saw that they made people queue to get in(they were stuffing your bags and stuff into big plastic bags to make sure you dont steal or something i think. The one at isetan scotts was very organized (IF you can say THAT) the whole inside area was stuffed with clothes and an area outside reserved for the cashier and a queue line. This way the queue does not intefere with the war inside. I really think "The sale worth waiting for" is really only the Mango Sale. When its a sale, Its REALLY a sale.
It was purely by chance that i knew THE Mango Sale starts today. I was shopping for some last minute presents yesterday and passed by a closed Mango (surprise surprise) and they already put up the sale sign. So right after school, i took the fastest route down(that is the bus). The most obvious place to go is Orchard because there are 4 Mangos in a small area. Ben also thought of getting his elder sister's present there, so i was running errands at the same time. I ended up getting a VERY nice thick black tube, a long sleeve green shirt for myself and 2 tops within budget for ben's sis. All in time for dinner @ home. PS. Jane i saw this jacket with "Mng" on the left breast. Dont know if that is the one you were looking for.

Christmas Time
On Sunday, my baby dressed up real nice and met me @ Orchard (cos i was there earlier to run SOME errands but turns out i went too early), I was delighted! I havent seen ben dressed up for some time. We went shopping for my gifts, got a ring, a dress, a skirt and a tube. Wow! We also went to NYDC for dinner, then watched Ocean's 12 and went back to NYDC for dessert.
And today, my baby got part 1 of his christmas gift. Before i met my baby, i had to run some errands, it just so happens that aaron is heading there to run errands too, so he accompanied me for a while and passed me my chocolates. It wasnt until i got home much later that i realised why the bag was so heavy, thank you very much aaron. Yes back to the main topic. We went for a simple dinner and when we got back to ben's place, we was so excited over his new gift that he ignored me for most part of the night. I didnt get to play with koby today though, didnt really want to, was rather tired after having to carry 2 heavy bags all around town.

Recently, on my shopping trips for gifts (be it for myself or for others), amidst the hustle and bustle of Christmas Shopping, I feel so happy. Even if the bulk of my earnings are going to others, the whole happy atmosphere just gets to me. I look around and think, wow! Its Christmas again, everyone is busy, running around getting presents for loved ones. The lightings at night are beautiful, once evening is around the corner, Orchard Road turns into a an illustrative page out of a story book. Some may say the lightings are the same every year, but they still have the same effect on me. The lights remind me of a time when i read Enid Blyton books, the place reminds me of the descriptions of the twinkling lights of the night parties held by fairies. The place just looks so whimsical, you feel as though you want to capture it all on film, but it doesnt matter what camera you use or how good you are because you wouldnt be able to capture the magical moment when you are standing below the lighted trees, full of imagination. It just wouldnt have the same effect.
